.... Painting Hordes

Here are a few things that i have painted, these are both starter boxes the for Hordes game by Privateer Press.
Hordes Trolls starter Battle Group

This Troll Battle box contains:

  • Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Chieftain Warlock
  • 2 Troll Impaler Light Warbeasts
  • Troll Axer Light Warbeast

  • Madrak Ironhide

    Troll Axer Warbeast

Next up is the Legion of Everblight Battle Group which contains:

  • Lylyth, Herald of Everblight Warlock
  • Carnivean Heavy Warbeast
  • 4 Shredder Lesser Warbeasts
  • Hordes Legion of Everblight starter Battle Group
    Carnivean Heavy Warbeast

I did paint the Legion models for a local event Called the BCB which is a charity event that will be held again this! The painted theme is pink armies!

With both these Battle Groups i tried a pre shading the models base coat using three primers from Halfords (White, Gray, Black). The first coat is black which covers the hole model. The second is gray which i only spray the models from 90 degrees and up then white from directly above, this gives the great gradient, which you then only needs thin coats of paint which colour the gradients.

Watch this link Pre shading Video and everything will become clear.

    ... enjoying his New Year

Right it that time of the year again where i am going to state what  my Goals are for the coming year:
    1. First i would like to become a better painter and that can only be done with practise with both my brush and new airbrush.
    2. I would like to Blog more this will help keep track of what i have got done and the games that i have enjoyed. I would also like to post about the films and books i enjoy, which i tried last year but the post would always turn into reviews which i never finish. So this year i have decided short posts is the i am going to address this. My aim is one post a month minimum.
    3. Finally i would like to play more game and have fun which i hope is a goal i share with every one.
The next post will be a catch up from what i managed to paint and play last year.

    ... Painting his Brood Lord

There is still a few touch ups to do but here it is, next is the Lictor, then i plan on spending some time painting some Warmachine units considering that i have not played 40K for over a year and it will be a while before my Nids will see the table

    ... Painting Space Ships

I have managed to paint a very basic scheme on both my Call to Arm Star Fleet starter sets and play a game. Which Means that I have managed to play a game with both side painted.

It was a Demo game where we play several of the rules wrong due to the way in which I read the rules, So I will not post a review/ my thoughts yet but there are several others in the club that want a demo game so i will post once i have played more games. The main issue I have with this game at the moment is that you need a detailed reference cards for each ships which would allow you to keep track of several element during the turn. This is something the Mongoose Publishing are addressing with laminated reference sheets, which is due out soon.

I will keep this very simply and sweet this is a fanatic game that every one should own! Think open World like GTA but with Dragons, Troll etc. Get it but be warned this game will stuck up your time. I will post a small review once I have played a few more hours, but so far its been fun killing Dragons, and exploring the world.

    ... Looking Forward to Playing

With Christmas and New Year over i am looking forward to playing the following Games in 2012:

    Wing of War,

One of Local Club Players has just pick this up and i looking forward to this simply dog fighting game which combines Cards and Models. no dice needed. (and the miniatures are all painted)

    Battle Ships Galaxies,

Had this in my collection for a few months now but not manager to get to the table i have been looking forward getting this game to the table for a while now.

Call to Arms : Star Fleet

Just got the rule book and two starter set, painted the models and have already arranged a Demo game. will post a small review once i have had a couple of games.

    Quarriors,

Every one seems to love this game, i hope me and the misses do to! Quarriors is an interesting take on deck building games which uses dice instead of cards. This will add a twist of luck to what would normally be a games of he who controls that the best card collection wins.

    Dust Tatics,

Another great fun board game which i have had for a while but has not seem much play which i hope to change. There is now Several new models which can be used for both the board game and Table top War-game  variant.

    Warmachine & Hordes

This is a currently my most played game, because its a great game which never plays the same, I have a new Epic caster with tones of units which need to see the table. This is my game of choice and is going to be my painting focus for the year, so no new Factions models till i can field two fully painted 50 point list. I am going to wait till the end of the year and till I have played with two plastic starter set for Hordes before i decide which faction to go with.

    Warhammer 40K

With the Necron Back and the rumours of the Tau and a New edition on the way i will most likely have a few games. and hopefully finishing painting my Nids but its at the back of a long painting queue.

    Infinity

Another Si-fi miniatures game that i have been enjoying and would love to play more this coming year. The miniatures are great but i feel that i will need a lot more paint skill to do them justice, so these will be staying in primer for a while.

My main goal for the year in hobby terms is to play with more painted stuff so i have decided not to keep trying to follow master painter guides but to try and get my miniature up to a basic table top standard.

    11/11/2011 - 11:11:11

    Just Saying.
    Where you?

    HAS been update

It been quite here but not because i have been ignoring this blog but because i have been gaming probably too much! I have now taken part in a few mini one day tournaments, one for Warmachine 35pts Steam roller and the other was seal deck event for Magic the Gathering (Innistrad). In the following week i will also be playing a 1000pts King of War tournament (Army pictures to follow once i finish sticking them together).

Besides from one day events I have mainly been playing tones of Warmachine, and even grown force to the include several new Cryx casters (the Generals of a Battle group). The more i play Warmachine the more i like it. This is due to the game easy to play but difficult to master.Warmachine is a complicated strategic skirmish game which never seems to play the same twice. I would highly recommend this game to everyone who enjoys any type of strategic game. I am still not winning many games but my uses of my Casters spells with unit combinations and positioning is getting much better. The key to this game i feel is understanding how to play against opposing forces Caster and the trick and combinations they use, and more importantly not let your caster get in to an position where is can get assassinated.

I have also been watching The Big Theory Season 1 which has me in stitches very time. Should i be worried that i get almost all the geek references? Bzinga

With DC launching the #1 across the range of comics I have picked up Batman Detective Comic and the Justice League lets see how long these lines hold my attention. I am also very slowly going through the fourth book in the Horus Heresy books (Flight of the Eisenstein). So far this book has not been a page turner (only half way through) I am not sure why, it could be that the main Character of the book is not the same as the previous three books in the series, and this books time line starts parallel to the last half of the previous book thus not progressing the story of the Warmaster Horus's heresy.

    ... Playing PS3 - Limbo Demo

Limbo is a great puzzle side scroller with a fantastic atmosphere everyone should try so what are you waiting for and grab it from Play Station Store. The Demo is free!

You control a small boy who seam to be lost in a dark and evil woods will he escape? The best part of the demo is the Spider towards the end and re-enforces that shadows are scarier then real thing. This game really shows you that you do not need film quality CGI to make a good game with tones of atmosphere.

    ... Playing 40K Kill Team

This is a prequel game to what i think is going to be one of the best game released this year (Well until Batman). I have recently played the Demo of KILL TEAM and as a result will be getting both the full version and the Space marine game.

This game is a 3rd person arcade shooter set in the rich 40K universe. You start by choose your Marine Type who then boards an assault pod to try and stop the Orks from landing on one of the forge world. The Game play is very simply one analog stick controls movement and the other the direction of fire, you also have a special attach which you charge up bye killing. So far i have seen two types of game play one where to move around a map freely moving from one way point to the next. The other is a static screen where you are force to "HOLD THE LINE" and waves of Orks attack from spawning points.

So Far it has been great fun and once i get down to a game store i will getting myself some station point so that i can unlock the full version. The Demo for Space marine is also due soon (as the game is due early September) so why play this game which will cost another £6, well I love Space Marines and 40K, and once you complete the first level you receive a power sword to be used in the Space Marine game. You may thinking sucker but basically it great fun! and Co-Op. It not like Gears of War or Uncharted where you swap between cover you just hold the trigger down and have tones of fun kills Orks. Again Great Fun.
