Just Saying.
Where you?

HAS been update

It been quite here but not because i have been ignoring this blog but because i have been gaming probably too much! I have now taken part in a few mini one day tournaments, one for Warmachine 35pts Steam roller and the other was seal deck event for Magic the Gathering (Innistrad). In the following week i will also be playing a 1000pts King of War tournament (Army pictures to follow once i finish sticking them together).

Besides from one day events I have mainly been playing tones of Warmachine, and even grown force to the include several new Cryx casters (the Generals of a Battle group). The more i play Warmachine the more i like it. This is due to the game easy to play but difficult to master.Warmachine is a complicated strategic skirmish game which never seems to play the same twice. I would highly recommend this game to everyone who enjoys any type of strategic game. I am still not winning many games but my uses of my Casters spells with unit combinations and positioning is getting much better. The key to this game i feel is understanding how to play against opposing forces Caster and the trick and combinations they use, and more importantly not let your caster get in to an position where is can get assassinated.

I have also been watching The Big Theory Season 1 which has me in stitches very time. Should i be worried that i get almost all the geek references? Bzinga

With DC launching the #1 across the range of comics I have picked up Batman Detective Comic and the Justice League lets see how long these lines hold my attention. I am also very slowly going through the fourth book in the Horus Heresy books (Flight of the Eisenstein). So far this book has not been a page turner (only half way through) I am not sure why, it could be that the main Character of the book is not the same as the previous three books in the series, and this books time line starts parallel to the last half of the previous book thus not progressing the story of the Warmaster Horus's heresy.

... Playing PS3 - Limbo Demo

Limbo is a great puzzle side scroller with a fantastic atmosphere everyone should try so what are you waiting for and grab it from Play Station Store. The Demo is free!

You control a small boy who seam to be lost in a dark and evil woods will he escape? The best part of the demo is the Spider towards the end and re-enforces that shadows are scarier then real thing. This game really shows you that you do not need film quality CGI to make a good game with tones of atmosphere.

... Playing 40K Kill Team

This is a prequel game to what i think is going to be one of the best game released this year (Well until Batman). I have recently played the Demo of KILL TEAM and as a result will be getting both the full version and the Space marine game.

This game is a 3rd person arcade shooter set in the rich 40K universe. You start by choose your Marine Type who then boards an assault pod to try and stop the Orks from landing on one of the forge world. The Game play is very simply one analog stick controls movement and the other the direction of fire, you also have a special attach which you charge up bye killing. So far i have seen two types of game play one where to move around a map freely moving from one way point to the next. The other is a static screen where you are force to "HOLD THE LINE" and waves of Orks attack from spawning points.

So Far it has been great fun and once i get down to a game store i will getting myself some station point so that i can unlock the full version. The Demo for Space marine is also due soon (as the game is due early September) so why play this game which will cost another £6, well I love Space Marines and 40K, and once you complete the first level you receive a power sword to be used in the Space Marine game. You may thinking sucker but basically it great fun! and Co-Op. It not like Gears of War or Uncharted where you swap between cover you just hold the trigger down and have tones of fun kills Orks. Again Great Fun.

... Finished painting Cryx Warjack and Caster Denny

My local Gaming Club the Leeds Night Owls have been running a Slow Growing Warmachine League. This mean that the size to the army list that you enter gets bigger every month starting at 15pts and ending on 35pts. This has spurred me on to paint 15pts of my Cryx force, as you receive a bonus point at the end of the month if your list is painted and based. I have only managed to have 2 games so far which I lost so I need every point I can get my hand on. I was originally going to use a themed tiered force but there an low availability of models from Privater Press. so i will play with what every i can get my hands on to make the points.

... Painting Tyranid 40k army

I Finally finished the first two of my 40k models, only about a million to go. ( note to my self never collect a horde army again.). First up an old school Carnifex with a venom cannon. This is a Heavy support unit and i think of it as the tank of the Hive mind.

Next up is the Tyranid Warrior, these are the control nodes of the army and a key unit to any Tyranid swarm.

I have another Warrior on my painting table but since i have signed up to a slow growing Warmachine league at my local club the Tyranid will go to the back of the queue again. Also with the 20% price increase (on all the models i wanted next any way) at games workshop i find that other games are now starting to get a following at the club, so i will be busy with other games so it will be a while before i have my next 40k game.

The other game that has i find my self wanting to play is Infinity and i am itching paint theses models and since a battle consists of only 6 models i would like to field only painted models. So to sum up the target is to finish a Cryx's starter box then Infinity starter box, Dystopian Wars starter is next and last up the Tyranids.

... Playing World of Tanks

This is a FREE to play MMO (kind of) where the player takes control of a Tank (3rd person) form the WWII era and simply put, kills other players. Each game lasts about 10-20 minutes.

Wold of Tanks is a great simply game which i can not stop playing! Once you log on you are taken to a arming depot where you will pick one of the three light tanks that you start with (one from each faction Russian  German and USA) and then simply hit the battle button at the top of the screen and fight.

There is a small tutorial video which explains the how to play but the game play is simply aim your tanks gun and fire. The MMO element comes in once you have had a few games and you have obtained some research points which let to unlock upgrades for your tanks and more tanks. There are several types of tanks including artillery which are all fun to play and thus you match you tank to your play style or mood and a way you go. But once you are out of the starter tanks ammo cost money and so does repairing you tank so be warned make sure you keep at least one of the starter tanks encase you run out of funds and become unable repair or re-arm your tank.

Again fun game diffidently give this one a try. ( HERE ) Once i have played a few more games i will post a more complete review with some screen shot, and some tips once i have worked some out.

... Painting Blazing Sun Fleet

I have been trying to finish off all the part painted model that i have on my painting table and here are the first few. The first is a squad of Empire of the blazing sun cruisers. These are from the Spartan Games game Dystopian Wars

In the background you can see the Carrier and the foreground you can see a fighter token

Below in the background here you can see the bomber models and a corner of the battle ship

These are just three models from the starter box of  14 models not including the Carrier (which is not in the starter set), bombers and far to many fighter tokens, but its a start. I may complete a set of miniatures for a game one day!

... Listening to Fire Base Detla

I have just listened to the first three episodes of Fire base delta, and its great show. This pod cast is based around Fire storm armada, which is a space combat miniature game from Spartan games. This is currently one of the favourite miniature games.

The shows cover games that they have played and tactics they used, but as this is a new show and as such the format is not set or constant. The feel of the show is nice and relaxed and simply put a group of players talking about the games they enjoy playing and thus is easy listening and enjoyable.

Fire base delta  pod-cast website is not there main base as they are using is there face book page, so please go and give them a listen.

... Listening to Horus Rising

This is the first of Horus Heresy book that has been abridged to audio. The Horus Heresy book provide the background to the Games Workshop 40k miniatures game. The books expands and adds detail to the history form the main rule book and introduce you to the main of the leaders of the space marine chapters.

Each space marine is a genetically engineered human who is equipped with the best armour and weapons and is breed for war. They are on a crusade across the galaxy collecting together all of humanity's children under the rule of the Great Emperor. The Emperor has placed his "son" Horus in charge of the crusade, as the Warmaster. This book follows him on his crusade and his elite space marine company the Luna Wolves as they wrestle worlds into compliance.

I enjoyed the story and knowing the basic time line of the universe, I could pick up the link between Horus and Chaos (Chaos being the main threat to mankind). I also enjoyed the religious themes that under pin the universe, from the crusades to the cults. Tyranid's are also featured which is my favorite faction n the miniature game.

The only thing that disappointed me was that this a simply a reading of the book and not an audio drama. The narrator give all the character a different voice and attitude but there is a distinct lack of background noise and music and thus a lack of atmosphere.

Over all i like it and i am sure i will listen to it several times over.

... Listening to D6G EP 70

In this episode the team reviews the New Spartan games offering called Dystopian wars, which is a table top miniature game base around a Steam punk theme. This is a great gaming pod cast where they take their time over each review, it almost feels like watching a demo game. The episode are a couple of hours long and the review is split into two sections. The time index's are list below each episode if you want to jump strange to the review. Another great show. Links to both Spartan games and D6 Generation sites can be found on either side of this blog.

Dystopian wars sounds like a great game and i can not wait to get my hands on the models. I enjoyed the game mechanics of Firestorm Armada and it's simple rules. Looking forward to a game!

... Enjoying playing NFS Hot Pursuit

Well the makers of Burn out (Criterion Games) have made another great game!! Graphic look great and reflect the speed of racing along normal roads. I am enjoying the idea of levelling both sides (Police, Speeder) without having to load between each of the careers. From what i have seen so far there are 20 levels to both side with what looks like 4 cars per level. The Cars look great with and without damage.

This is an arcade style driving game which is great fun to play. Forget GT5
