,,, Playing with his first Airsoft gun

After my first few Airsoft gaming sessions, I decide to visit the local shop and pick some basic equipment safety equipment. I picked up a mesh face mask, gloves, and some camo clothing. I also pick up an 8 fields Plate carrier. While wondering around the shop I spotted this two tone pistol

This is the AW-HX1105 5.1 Hicap Pistol and looks to me to be based on 1911 pistol. This is an all metal gun which uses gas to propel BBs. The gas mechanism also creates recoil which greatly adds to the enjoyment of firing the weapon. The gun I had previously used was an AEGs (Automatic Electric Gun) which use an electric motor to propel the BBs, therefore, did not have any recoil, unlike the gas blow back pistol (GBB).

To purchase an airsoft you need to have a defense in place or buy a gun which is classed as two toned so that it can clearly be identified as an imitation fire arm. As this gun was two tone I could not leave the shop with out it.

This Pistol has been great fun in CQB (Close Quater Battle) match at Kill House in Leeds.

I would recommend that if you have not tried out a GBB pistol you should!

... getting into Airsoft

My journey into Airsoft has a long and windy path but has led me to the hobby which has sucked me in and I will be sharing my journey into this hobby here.

It all started over a year ago with a company day where I got my first taste of clay pigeon shooting, after really enjoying the challenge of shooting the clays I set out to find a local club. After attended several secession I came to the conclusion that the biggest draw back to taking up the shooting was the requirement to own your own gun. This made me uncomfortable as I did not want to keep a gun in the house with kids.

Before I came to that decision not to take up the sport I had started to watch You Tube videos on shotgun shooting technics which in turn led me to watching 3 gun videos.  3 Gun matches are target shoot matches which require a shooter to use a rifle, Shotgun and a pistol in a timed target shooting matches. This was an extremely interesting way of target shooting which combined the both movement of the shooter and transitioning between weapons. This was again another sport which required an owning and keeping guns, so not the sport for me.

On the train to London, while traveling to Salute 2017, I was discussing the issue with a miniature gaming buddy who said you should try Airsoft. He then spent the next hour explaining what airsoft is and the gear that he had, I was hooked by the idea of using and owning replica guns without out the danger and risk of owning lethal weapons.

One evening we visited Killhouse in Leeds, and I was totally hooked. It was like playing call of duty. Airsoft is basically paintball without the paint and you use realistic looking weapons which shoot small plastic balls. Amazing! It can also be played inside CQB so this was also a sport which can be enjoyed with the British climate.

I think everyone should try this sport out its great fun!!!
